About Tom Larcombe
Tom Larcombe was introduced to fantasy books at a young age. Those that were aimed more at children hooked him in, but not well enough for him to remember their names at this point in his life. Their draw led him to books aimed more for the adult reader and so he found himself, at around age eight, starting in on the Steven R Donaldson 'Thomas Covenant' series and the Hobbit, followed shortly thereafter by The Lord of the Rings books.
His reading tastes have never looked back, although they have broadened to include science fiction and the occasional non-fiction book.
He lives in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains with his wife, two daughters, three cats, and a variable number of chickens.

Blog postOn schedule to get book #4 uploaded to Amazon for this weekend. I just need to finish giving it the final proof and then get it uploaded to Amazon. Hopefully they'll have it live quickly once I get it uploaded.
Here's the cover for it. Loving my cover artist for this series.

Blog postSorry, I'd intended to post this yesterday, but high winds had us without power for most of the day yesterday, and it took the net an hour or more to get restored after the power came back. I could've posted from my phone, but I really hate typing anything more than a line or two on there.

Now, since I didn't take any time off between books #1 and #2 for this series, I'm going to take a few days to try to catch up on my TBR pile. Especially with the new KU limit of 20 books, I've got a pile of them waiting for me. First, Venom 2 tonight though. Kind of my reward for finishing the book and getting it available.

Blog postI just finished the first few chapters of my final proof on book #2 of Natural Laws Apocalypse (System Return). I'm hoping to have it available on Amazon for October 1st. If not it will be very shortly thereafter.
In the meanwhile, I thought I'd drop the cover for the book. I thought it was fitting that this one is being released in October.

Blog postI've got my next book up on Amazon, well, it's submitted anyhow. It'll be available as soon as they're finished with it.
The title is Enter System and it's the first in a litrpg/gamelit apocalypse series. It has elements of base building, adventuring, personal growth, snarky sidekicks, and a System in charge of it all of course.
Here's a thumbnail of the cover:

Blog postI just finished writing Crow Hill #4: Crystal Invasion. It does still need proofing, editing, and the like so it won't be published for a few weeks still, but the story itself is finished.
For my Crow Hill readers, sorry for the delay. I'd intended to write this sooner, but when my brain refused to stay on it and insisted I write other things, I listened to it. It tends to make for a better story that way. But the wait is over and #4 is done and will hopefully be published before1 year ago Read more -

The book itself should get uploaded to Amazon either tomorrow (7-29-20) or the day after. I've got 4 more chapters to proof and then convert the manuscript to the proper file format and upload.

Blog postEarlier today I finished writing Light Online book #4: Defender. The actual writing part at least. It will still need a full proofread and editing, but the writing portion is finished and I should manage to publish book #4 before the end of this month.
It comes in right around the word count of the others at about 124,500, give or take, before any changes to that from proofing or editing.

Blog postI'm a bit behind on Book #4. After being sick for two weeks, then having another several weeks where I couldn't focus well enough to write (never mind focus well enough to write, I couldn't even focus well enough to read. I kept forgetting what had happened earlier in the books I tried to read. Talk about torture, I hated not being able to read just as much as I did being sick.) it has left me behind on book #4.

Blog postSo I finished writing the second book in my Light Online series yesterday. I need to give it a day or two, and then I'll do the first proofreading on it, have my editor take their turn, then do a final proofread myself. I hope to have it published before Christmas, but that will essentially depend on the editor and the cover designer coming through in time.

Titles By Tom Larcombe
Marc and his party have finished their zeppelin and taken it out to try to discover other Safe Zones. Their intent is to set up trade routes between all the different Safe Zones in order to give them a better chance to survive.
The second Safe Zone they discover with the zeppelin is nearly as large as Any Port. It even has its own ring of outlier Safe Zones, or a partial ring at least. It appears that several of the smaller Safe Zones have been taken and converted into dungeons. With the safety of the larger Safe Zone apparently at stake, they bring the zeppelin down to help the larger Safe Zone however they can.
On return to Any Port, Marc accelerates his own expansion, his father having finally seen the wisdom of all the additional Safe Zones Marc wants in order to Capture more land.
With setting up more of their own outlier Safe Zones, meeting new and interesting creatures, some of whom would like to kill and eat the party, making contact with new Safe Zones, and working with the satellite they recovered, Marc keeps himself busy in the aftermath of the System's arrival.
This story is approximately 155,000 words long and DRM free.
What do you do when the world as you know it changes dramatically with little notice? When the Natural Laws no longer apply in all cases and the only thing to explain why is a “System” that seems to have access to everyone in the world?
Marc's home from college on break, spending his time laughing about some of the crazy news stories he's found online, and gaming. When a message appears in his line of sight, blocking out absolutely everything else, he nearly freaks out. The message warns that the world has been in a variant Natural Laws beta test for millennia and that it's about to revert to the norms.
Deciding that even if he is insane, it's not going to hurt anything to try to prepare, he settles in to do so. Despite the atrocious lack of skill the System has with the English language, he manages to work his way through enough help files to get a clue of what's coming. After sharing his discovery with a few friends, they all start to prepare together.
Once the change begins, the small group races to create a Safe Zone, an area where monsters will not spawn and where they can gather other survivors in an attempt to rescue as much of the town as possible. Along the way they discover that the new System can award classes that resemble those of the games the group has played, as well as magic for those capable of grasping it.
With monsters spawning throughout the town, everyday animals being mutated into dangerous creatures, and a System that desperately needs English language lessons, they'll do their best to save as many of the local residents as they can.
This story is approximately 155,000 words long and DRM free.
Marc's Safe Zone, and his network of interconnected Safe Zones, has been upgraded to an Industrial Technology level. With the new tech level comes a number of items that they've desperately wanted to build. Now railways, lighter than air travel, primitive firearms, and more are available, once the requirements for their tech chains are satisfied.
With a quest that will take them more than two hundred miles away, given to them by a System that seems to be searching for any way to throw off its programmed limitations, lighter than air travel looks to be the way to go. Trying to get there on the ground seems like it would just be courting death.
Marc has finally managed to get the day to day running of the Safe Zone out of his own hands and into hands he trusts. His mother is fully into the administrative end of things and his father, while head of the defenses, has now been granted build access on the pedestal so Marc is free to explore and grind for levels.
With the System trying to bypass its restrictions, the elves building a new settlement in Marc's Captured lands, and what seems like a major quest that needs doing, Marc's been slowed, if not totally stalled, on the expansion of both his Safe Zone and the network of Safe Zones that allow him to Capture land. Fortunately, the lighter than air tech chain offers a number of benefits, including the ability to search the surrounding areas and track down other survivors in their own Safe Zones.
This story is approximately 155,000 words long and DRM free.
After the discovery that the encampment outside of his Safe Zone is full of friendlies, Marc and his group finally have a chance to try to grow stronger again. The addition of an administrator for the Safe Zone as well as someone to coordinate its defenses finally allows Marc to feel like he can go out and do other things.
With the number of survivors they're finding in the immediate area rapidly dwindling, they choose to go farther afield, working on gaining additional resources for the Safe Zone while searching out any remaining survivors they can find.
His father reported passing other Safe Zones on his way back to town so Marc decides some investigation is in order. What he intends is to salvage the ruins of a destroyed Safe Zone his father spotted and offer trade and cordial relations to the surviving one that's closer by. What occurs is not what he intended or expected.
With the possibility of a technology upgrade for his Safe Zone, what appears to be a community of some sort of elves a few miles south of the Safe Zone, and the sneaking suspicion that the System itself is merely a tool for someone, or something, else, Marc isn't quite as free to just do what he wants as he thought he'd be at this point.
This story is approximately 157,000 words long and DRM free.
With other settlements to create, a forest elf town to find, a settlement quest still to finish, and the king's quest beyond that, Eddie's staying busy. Unfortunately the NPCs in the game are far too much like real people, so treachery and backstabbing are also within their grasp.
This story is approximately 125,000 words long and DRM free.
On defense against the opponents being hurled at him, the support of his party and the other adventurers in the area is critical, and beyond his expectations. But even in the midst of the attacks he still manages to continue building, which is lucky since his current building project is the defensive walls of the castle he intends to create.
This story is approximately 125,000 words long and DRM free.
The research is rapidly discovered by the AIs that monitor the game and shut down, forcefully, by the company that runs Light Online. But the code that runs those pods has been altered, and until it's fixed Eddie and the others can't log out. Although the devs assure him that it won't take long to fix, Eddie's not so sure of that himself.
Eddie entered the game to make money in real life, and as he tries to do that he finds himself getting entangled deeper and deeper in the game and with the people he meets there. But when he discovers a side of the game that the previous players had apparently never even considered, he knows he has to find a way to stay in the game.
This story is approximately 120,000 words long and DRM free.
Working on a hidden development quest that he discovered by accident has him becoming more and more entrepreneurial even while running his own inn, but between him and his party, the Meadowlands is rapidly developing.
The goblins from the Forest of Fools have noticed the Meadowlands growing stronger as well, and start attacking out of the forest. They seem to be growing stronger as the Meadowlands do. The Meadowlands themselves are changing also, offering more challenges and rewards, as Eddie completes more of his quests.
Eddie finally decides that he can't keep everything going on his own. Between running an inn, building the things necessary for his quest, adventuring, and more, he's getting to the point where important things are slipping his mind. When a dungeon is discovered in the Meadowlands, where there was never one before, he gives in and relegates himself to an assistant in running his own inn so that he and his party can test themselves against it in an attempt to grow their own power levels.
This story is approximately 130,000 words long and DRM free.
Balancing his time between adventuring and building would be easy, if it didn't seem like there were always twenty-seven more things he felt he should be doing at the same time.
To make matters worse, there's good evidence supporting a fellow player's theory that Eddie's efforts to increase the settlement level of the Meadowlands cause the game to add new content in the area. So now Eddie has even more things to add to what he's already doing.
This story is approximately 125,000 words long and DRM free.
His old friend Rynn brought several student wizards to his place as things were falling apart. So his first job is to provide for himself and them. But the local town needs help also, and he's never been one to turn away when someone needs assistance.
The Council of Wizards has always disliked him since he was too vocal with his opinions, which happened to oppose theirs. But now they want him out, permanently, so they can take over the crystal mine he's been managing.
With raiders threatening the town, the Council after his head, and people to feed, Michael and Rynn need to find the cache that she knows is in the mine. Its contents may be the difference between life and death.
This book is DRM free.
An old flame has contacted him looking for a place to go. She teaches at the only school for wizards on the continent and took responsibility for several of the students when the school was evacuated.
The country is falling apart, the Board's still punishing him for actions taken in his teens, and now they're showing a renewed unhealthy interest in him. Michael needs to be able to offer a safe haven to Rynn and the students, but he can't bring himself to ignore the problems of those around him, either.
There are always more things to do than time to do them in and, of course, a man with a gun can pose a serious problem, even to a wizard.
This book is DRM free.
When that wizard is Michael Hart, the answer is to gladly accept the assignment after discovering that his punishment was primarily from the hands of the traitorous Council member and his cronies.
But the simple 'take care of the Council member' mission devolves into much more as Michael finds himself tasked with helping to defend against an invasion of the country by those who decimated the economy. He also discovers that he's changing in ways he never anticipated, more ways than one.
This story is approximately 118,000 words long and DRM free.
