You can use Alexa in the Amazon Shopping App to ask questions, shop, play music, and more.
To activate Alexa in the Amazon Shopping App, tap the microphone icon in the search bar. You do not need to say "Alexa" when you do this.
Note: Alexa in the Amazon Shopping App is not activated with a wake word and your device is not ready for your Alexa commands until you tap the microphone icon.
You can say things like:
Note: Alexa in the Amazon Shopping App doesn't place orders, instead supported voice commands will search Amazon's product catalog and past orders, place items in your cart, or track orders. To finish the order tap the buy button in the shopping cart.
You can use Alexa to stream music, podcasts, audiobooks, and more. You can also listen to compatible Kindle books with text to speech.
You can say things like "Play some music" or "Play the song, [song name]" or "Play some [genre name] music."
Note: Third-party music services such as Pandora, Spotify, iHeartRadio, and TuneIn are not available using Alexa in the Amazon Shopping App.
To listen to compatible Kindle books and Audible audiobooks, you can say things like "Read [title]" or "Play the book, [title]."
Alexa will not show the text of a book onscreen or activate immersion reading when reading a book. Go to Read Kindle Books with Alexa and Listen to Your Audiobooks for voice commands and more information.
If you ask Alexa to play music or read a book, player controls will appear on the screen. The audio will continue to play after you've dismissed the visual. If you want to stop the music or pause the book, you can see the player controls again by swiping down from the top of the screen. You can also tell Alexa "Pause" or "Resume."
Note: You can't control the device volume with your voice using Alexa in the Amazon Shopping App.
Alexa can answer a variety of questions about people, geography, dates, music, sports, and more. Alexa can also spell, define words, complete conversions, and make simple calculations.
You can ask Alexa questions like "Who is [name]?" "When is [holiday]?" "What is the definition of [word]?" or "Tell me a joke" and much more.
Alexa can give you updates on the news, weather, and traffic. To check your weather, you'll need to add your address to the Alexa app. To check traffic, first set your starting point and destination in the Alexa app.
You can say things like "What's new?" "What's the weather?" "What's my Flash Briefing?" or "How is traffic?"

Customers can delete individual utterances from the Alexa app, or by contacting customer service.
To delete utterances using the Amazon Shopping App, go to Your Account and select Manage Voice Recordings.
