5.0 out of 5 starsMa'am?! THIS WAS SO CUTE

"Maybe we could just get a little naked and see what happened."

Calling all friends to lovers haters! This book will change your mind. FTL has been my least favorite trope in all of romance since I began reading in the 7th grade haha. I don't necessarily despise every FTL book I've ever read, but I haven't really loved any of them either. UNTIL NOW.

Hear me when I say there are very few books by Melanie Harlow that I haven't read... she's undoubtedly one of my favorite authors. This is one of her best. GAH?! I was not expecting to say that when I started this!!!! I was hoping to like it despise the premise - instead, I fell head over heals for these two and their story. And the plot fits beautifully with their personalities and situation. If the fake dating isn't enough to convince you, the MMC alone will...

He's a sexy nerdy billionaire with a big heart, golden retriever personality, shy but not in the bedroom, protective, mature... I could go on and on. This is the kind of guy you add to your favorite book boyfriends list in the notes app LOL

And let me tell you about the tension. The TENSION. How did MH avoid a slow burn but still build up the pay off like she did?? I was gasping up every time they even hugged or brushed elbows haha

This book was funny (comedy is so cheesy these days, I appreciated that it was a low key romcom without trying to be), hot, and nearly perfectly executed. I salute you, Melanie Harlow, for turning my least favorite trope into one of my favorite books. Not to mention one of my favorite series. This small town world of characters has such a chokehold on me... I could see myself going back and re reading them all!!

(Loved the appearances from other previous main characters in the series as well. It's one of my favorite things in interconnected standalone series... cameos!!!)

10/10 would recommend.

So here’s the thing: there’s nothing about this book I didn’t love. I loved Hutton. I loved Felicity. I loved the continuation of the Cloverleigh Farms series. It’s just another hit from Melanie Harlow.

Hutton is a math nerd who made billions of dollars off a cryptocurrency algorithm. He has OCD tendencies and has massive social anxiety.

Felicity is a Food blogger and caterer who also has her own unique ways of dealing with stress, the main one being cutting her own hair. So when she cuts her own hair the day of her high school reunion, she panics. She panics even more when the mean girl from high school shows up and is an even bigger mean girl then before.

All of a sudden, Felicity and Hutton have their own reasons for staying fake engaged, but the lines blur almost immediately.

I just really loved this one. Both of them had to figure out how to be vulnerable and how to deal with years long pent up feelings.

What if life could be as carefree as it is in the bedroom?
What if the thing that matters most suddenly doesn’t matter at all?

Such a hit from MH. I can’t wait for Millie’s story. And if you didn’t already know, Millie will represent a plus sized heroine and I am ecstatic.

4.0 out of 5 stars Slow start but enjoyed it

Took me a while to get into this book enough to really commit to it. The beginning was cute but a little far-fetched and awkward. But once I got to know the characters more and their relationship began to really develop, I found myself hooked and read a little over half of it in one day after dragging the first part out a few weeks.

Hutton and Felicity were adorable together. I really enjoyed their quirks and especially that Hutton isn’t a cookie cutter broody alpha male. Those are good to a point, but sometimes it’s really hard to find guys that don’t fit neatly into that box but are still appealing.

It was clear who Hutton was based on (a certain crypto nerd who crashed and burned very recently) so that part of the book really didn’t age well and made certain aspects of the book very awkward (I couldn’t help but think “is Hutton a future criminal?” Lol) and once or twice something said or done was almost a commentary on future real life events. If I were the author, I would probably go back and edit the book to get rid of the company name and crypto aspect. It wouldn’t take much to wipe it out, just give him some other obscure invention.

Overall I did enjoy it and would consider reading other books from this series in the future.

I liked this book a lot more than I thought, which is probably why it took me so long to start it. For that, I am kicking myself.

Melanie's writings transported me into the story, so I felt like I was with Felicity and Hutton.

I loved their friendship and seeing it mature into the relationship. I loved how this novel showed that you don't need perfect for the best love story. You just need to be yourself.

Again a fun read from Melanie. Story telling and mini- series are done to perfection, making you want to continue with more. Mimi was obnoxious but don't we all have one bad girl in our past. Frienships like Feliity's & Hutton that last and develope into love that was really hidden all along.. Recommend this story & looking forward to reading more from this talented author

5.0 out of 5 stars Two perfectly imperfect people that were meant to be together ❤️

Hutton and Felicity… these two are two halves of a whole, and on 🔥🔥 when they finally get together! Friends since middle school, they were both super smart and a little too quirky to fit in. The both have their idiosyncrasies, their “inner self-talk” that tells them they’re not good enough, and a heaping scoop of crippling anxiety. Yet somehow together they find peace and comfort. What started as friendship, wound up as more, only they were both too anxiety ridden to make a move. After finally getting the nerve to ask her to prom, Hutton couldn’t make a move and ends the night with a handshake. Years later, they are still friends, and neither has managed to make a relationship work with anyone else.

A high school reunion and some sharp barbs from a mean girl have Felicity blurting out that she and Hutton are engaged. What snowballs from there is a family free for all of excitement and maybe just the push these two needed to admit their feelings. And they are completely combustible when they get together 🔥🔥

I loved these two together. I love that they are both dealing with their own issues, but find they feel whole with the other. I also love that they don’t miraculously overcome their issues just because they get together. Too often, authors write characters that suddenly no longer have their mental health issues because “love fixed it” or something. That’s not reality. These two are perfect together because they each understand the other like no one else. Neither wants to change the other to suit them. They are perfectly suited to support the other. She still struggles with anxiously wanting to cut her hair, while his self-talk voices may be quieter with Felicity there, he still struggles with his anxiety and sees a therapist. I love this world, and I love how beautifully written each book is.

Again I have to say, this is a sweet story in this series. There is love, every day issues we face, and some very nice steamy bits that pull it altogether. Buckle up and enjoy this ride!

5.0 out of 5 stars Very sweet story.. but a little unbelievable

It was very sweet but I found it a bit difficult to believe he was so ridden with anxiety he won't answer phone calls yet he was dominant and extra confident in the bedroom. Felt like two different characters but I understand the author was trying to go for a certain appeal.
